It all started with a hedgehog.

One evening of 2020 I sat in my garden watching the world wind down after another blisteringly hot day, my days had gained a sort of ground hog atmosphere. I’d lost myself, and was struggling to find a reason to wake up and put on adult clothes every day. From the corner of my eye I spotted movement. At first I assumed it to be a bird, or one of my many cats. There amongst a overgrown hedge to my garden scurried a mysterious creature. I moved closer unable to believe my eyes, the creature stared back at me unfazed . A Hedgehog. I’d never seen one so close and spent a good half an hour photographing and watching it go about it’s evening duties in my garden. I was awoken, inspired and enthralled by the magic this little animal had brought about my garden.

From that moment on I felt inspired, and thus started my journey. The hedgehog visited me daily throughout the summer and I set my alarm specially to wake up to watch her morning commute back to the hole under my hedge where she lived. Suddenly the world was alive with wonder. Critters to draw, plants to investigate the Hedgerow became a world for me to map.Later I would come back to the art adding in watercolor paint and working over with pen, metallic ink etc. Unable to leave this fascinating miniature world I had discovered.
